Start Your Art Journey With Us!

Our Story

Arts on Fire Ajax was born in April, 2018, when Ajax High School drama teacher, Sheri Prescott, realized that her students and her three sons needed more art opportunities in their neighbourhood.  She pitched the idea to several amazing art instructors and they all jumped on the idea to teach art-loving students on Saturday afternoons.  With incredible support from Ajax High's Principal, Eleanor McIntosh and the Durham District School Board, Arts on Fire Ajax was launched on September 15, 2018.

Sheri’s vision is to offer exciting art classes that meet the needs of our community. She wants to offer art classes that build confidence, work with commuter’s schedules, help students build their college art portfolios, build future musical theatre stars, train youth for the stage and spotlight, and promote confidence and focus through visual art classes. Sheri hopes our young people will find a variety of diverse and passionate mentors.

In order to support local youth in their quest for art instruction, Arts on Fire Ajax provides scholarships for 10 students each session. Let us know if you or your business would like to sponsor a scholarship student and we will feature your generosity on social media!

In addition, our instructors are available to host your next Arts Night or party.

Arts on Fire Ajax will continue to grow and adapt to the needs of our students.  Please email Sheri with your ideas and suggestions for future classes:

We hope you enjoy your art journey with us!

"I'm really enjoying the class because I'm learning new techniques that they don't always cover in school. The teacher is very professional and helpful when giving me feedback."  - Portrait Artist Sophie

"What's great about improv is the games. And I like that I get to make up the story on the spot!"  - Youth Improviser Luke
