Sheri Prescott

Director of Arts on Fire Ajax and ADULT IMPROV

Sheri Prescott has been teaching drama for more than 23 years with the DDSB. She loves directing plays and coaching improv teams for schools and competitions.  


Mrs. Prescott has enjoyed acting in local community theatre and has an appreciation for British comedies and Shakespeare plays. She especially likes teaching and performing improv with adults.  Adult improv is laughter-therapy at its best!

Join Sheri for theatre sports and short-form improv scenes.

Connor Atkins


 Connor Atkins is passionate about improvisation and the power it has to change lives.  He is a National contender of the Canadian Improv Games and graduate of Humber College's "Acting for Film and Television" program.


Connor will deliver improvisational training as well as develop the actor's ability to create strong characters with confidence.  Jump out of your comfort zone and into the improv pool where the preparation for real life begins!




Dayna Kirkpatrick


Mrs. Dayna Kirkpatrick teaches visual arts for the DDSB. Her easy to follow instructions will build art skills like rapid-fire. Dayna is teaching Drawing for the Early Fall Session and delivering exciting art lessons for the Adult Art classes in October.

After a few sessions of art-training with Dayna, your confidence as an artist will grow. Learn exciting portrait-drawing techniques and colour-shading. Aspiring and experienced artists alike are warmly welcomed.





Tara Sarre


Mrs. Tara Sarre is a graduate of J.Clarke Richardson's musical theatre and York University's Theatre Studies program. She is an English and Drama teacher for the DDSB and is talented at directing musical choreography.


 Mrs. Sarre and her vocal colleague Marcelle Boisjoli will teach students choreography, singing and acting skills. Be prepared to be amazed at how far an actor can progress in just12 hours of instruction.


This is an excellent program for audition preparations for schools, community theatres, colleges, and life in general.


Daniel Wedderburn


Mr. Daniel Wedderburn is a talented artist and new teacher with the DDSB. He is passionate about drawing and looks forward to mentoring our Durham youth in drawing art techniques. Daniel also teaches the Adult Art Class.

Daniel also has a contagious laugh that will make every drawing student comfortable in the art studio.






Holly Young


Holly Guthrie is an accomplished artist and a graduate of OCAD in Toronto.


A former Dunbarton student, Holly is ready to mentor our Durham youth in the arts. Her enthusiasm in the art studio will be inspiring for beginners and experienced students alike. 

Enjoy watercolour and acrylic painting lessons with Holly on Saturdays from 12:00-2:00 p.m in Studio 129.


Marcelle Boisjoli


     Marcelle Boisjoli has been training young voices for more than 10 years. She has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in vocal performance from McGill University and is a classically trained singer.


     Marcelle is the vocal instructor for our Musical Theatre classes.  She will help students build confidence with one-on-one coaching.  Students will prepare two separate pieces of music for performance, and be encouraged to prepare a solo.  This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring singers and those preparing for auditions.

J'Mone Manhertz


J'Mone is an experienced musician who loves music and teaching. He has been playing drums for more than eighteen years. J'Mone is well-known in our community for working with young people of all ages at the Boys and Girls Club and elementary/secondary schools.


J'Mone will teach the basics of drumming and the thrill of rhythmic patterns.  Popular songs will be used to engage the students in percussive motions using drum sticks and buckets.  Students will be coached to create their own drum solos. Drum sticks will be given to every student to personalize. Everyone will enjoy this dynamic and collaborative music class!




Susana Mingram


Susy is a talented grade 12 Ajax High school student who will be studying art at OCAD this fall! Her art work has won first place THREE times at juried shows in Durham.  Drawing is her main passion, and she generoiusly lends a hand to new artists at Arts on Fire Ajax each week. Susy is also an award-winning drummer.

Tatyana Goubourne


Tatyana is a grade 12 student at Ajax High School and a fan of film and theatre. She will be working at the Arts on Fire reception table greeting our students as well as taking pictures and making weekly videos.

Jaida Hamilton

Painting Assistant

Jaida is a grade 12 student and Student Council Co-President at Ajax High School who loves to paint. She will be pursuing a career in the arts and enjoys assisting Holly in the Painting Class.

Ben Prescott



Ben is a grade 12 Ajax High student who loves improvisation games and working with kids as a Town of Ajax camp counsellor. He took Connor's improv classes when he was younger and enjoys coaching young people to have fun with characters and story-telling. You can join Ben in the Teen Improv class.

Luke Prescott


Luke is a grade 10 student at Ajax High school and a member of the Improv Club.  He enjoys theatre sports and enjoying a laugh with other emerging comedians.  Luke attended Improv University at Bishop's University this past summer and learned new skills from the best improvisers acorss Canada!

Front of House and Tech Crew

Sharanga and Kobiga are the wonderful greeters you will meet upon entering Arts on Fire Ajax on a Saturday afternoon.  They will escort students to their studios, pass out information to parents, sell t-shirts, and even play a role in the acting showcase if needed!
